LISZT, Franz (1811-1886). Hungarian composer and pianist.
Autograph Letter Signed in German (name of recipient illegible), 3 pages 8vo, no place, 'Mardi Matin' [sic], endorsed in another hand with the date '1844'. Complaining of having returned from Jena the previous day with a cold, sending his excuses for the day, and suggesting that he may have to postpone a performace. With transcript and translation.
'A very bad cold which I brought back from Jena yesterday prevents me from leaving my room for a few days. Please be so kind as to make my excuses to our ... master and feel a little sorry for me that I cannot take part in your ... work today.
 'If I am not considerably better tomorrow morning I should have to ask you to postpone my performance at Madame Higendorf's till Thursday.'
A rather hastily-written letter with a few words illegible.
