Fine Autograph Letter Signed ('Deine Clara') to her son Ferdinand (1850-1888), 4 pages 8vo, Frankfurt, 3 July 1884. With a transcript and full translation. She is pleased to hear that his health is improving. Frau von Beckerath has promised to take an interest in him. They are fine people and he plays the violin well. His brother-in-law is a distinguished doctor, etc.
'I have been greatly relieved since receiving your news today that you are feeling somewhat better again. But take care of yourself, do not take too much upon yourself. Walking for three-quarters of an hour after such pains is a lot, after all!Dear Frau von Beckerath called on us today and promised me that she would do something to look after you; I am very happy about that. They are excellent people, and you will have some support there. They live quietly, but with a lively intellectual life, and have a great deal of artistic interest. - He plays violin very nicely.
 'We still have a terrible amount to do, so goodbye for today.Dr Mercklin, an excellent doctor, von Beckerath's brother-in-law, is coming back next week, if you need other medical advice. Frau von B. told me that many patients, having taken the cure successfully, then take a further light cure in the Cold Water Institute in [illegible] to harden themselves up, because the warm baths leave one so soft.
