'The long journey from Oberammergau has deprived me of the pleasure of telling you earlier how touched I was by your affectionate congratulations and how grateful I am to you for the sympathy you showed me in the sad circumstances: I thank you for it with all my heart and I ask you to be kind enough to pass to Madame Samazeuilh all my respects ...'
