ANGLESEY, Sir Henry William Paget, Marquess of of (1768-1854). Field Marshal, lost a leg at Waterloo.
Letter Signed to Lord Melbourne, 1 page 4to, Dublin Castle, 19? February 1832. Recommending Henry Jones to be adjutant of the Royal Anglesey Militia, provided that the King do not disapprove.
Letters of this remarkable soldier, diplomat, adulterer and duellist, perhaps best known for his remark to the Duke of Wellington on 18 June 1815 'By God, sir, I've lost my leg', are rarely seen on the market.
