STRAUSS, Richard (1864-1949). German conductor and composer.
Autograph Letter Signed on a postcard to George Dröscher, Director of the Berlin Royal Opera, no place, no date (postmark not deciphered). With a full translation. Concerning a forthcoming performance of Elektra, and making arrangements for rehearsals with the principals.
'Director Rheinhardt has now firmly scheduled Elektra for the 15th of December. Would you now be good enough to arrange that all participants (Plaichinger, Rose, Demera, Hoffmann, etc.) are especially adised of this.
I shall be back again in the morning of the 14th and would like to rehearse the main portions with piano from then until the afternoon or evening of the 17th. ...'
Elektra, Strauss's first opera to a libretto by Hoffmansthal, had its first performance at the Hofoper, Dresden, on 25 January 1909.
