BRUNEL, Isambard Kingdom (1806-1859). Civil Engineer.
Autograph Letter Signed to C.W. Nixon, 1 page 8vo (laid down on the remains of an album leaf, with recipient's endorsement), 18 Duke Street, Westminster, 5 September 1856.
'I will see what I can furnish you with as to datum - but it may not be easy to find now the bench marks of 20 years back.'
The recipient has endorsed the letter 'Great Western Railway ...'. There is slight soiling and a pencil sketch of unknown origin showing a crinolined young woman in profile on the reverse.
