The first Mouse Trap.

HOWELLS, William Dean (1837-1920). American man of letters.
Autograph Letter Signed to Miss [Nona] Stewart, 2 facing pages 8vo (traces of former mounting on the intervening pages), 40 West 59th Street, New York, 9 December 1899. Authorizing her to put on his play 'The Mouse Trap' for charity, and asking that she obtain official permission from his Edinburgh publishers.
After returning to the United States in 1886, Howells wrote several plays, of which The Mouse Trap, a farce, was one. It never quite achieved the success of Agatha Christie's subsequent book and play of that name.
