TUPPER, Martin Farquhar (1810-1889). Author.
Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 3 pages 8vo (split in the central fold), Furze Hill, Brighton, 1 January 1844. Concerning his correspondent's wish to establish an English Antiquarian Society, and tentatively agreeing to cooperate in the venture and perhaps write for its publications.
'... in case I have the pleasure of your company at Brighton for an hour or two, we may hit upon a topic of local or other interest.
While I acquiesce in your request, I do not at all see that the Antiquarian Society, or the Royal Society are not already amply sufficient for all purposes: but you probably have your reasons.'
