Autograph Letter Signed on a correspondence-card to General [Enesy in Budapest], Windlesham, Crowborough, 31 December [1929]. Thanking him for the books, mentioning his ill health, apologising for the brevity of his letter and sending best wishes for 1930.

'... I am still very ill and have not walked 50 yards since Nov 10th. They tell me they wanted to lay me up for their own future purposes, so I suppose it is all right. ...'

Conan Doyle was in such pain from angina after his European lecture tour in autumn 1929, that he had to be carried ashore upon his return. He was mainly bedridden from that time until his death in July 1930.
