Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 2 pages 8vo (strengthened in the folds), 'Sunday Morg', no date. Asking his correspondent to supply some naptha (a chemical solvent) or to let Davy know where he could obtain some for an experiment.
'After trying a great number of chemical Bodies with the hope of confining & preserving the new preteus: like substances without perfect success, I have thought upon Naptha as a material that will probably answer my purpose.
Could you favour me with a little Naptha or inform me where I am likely to be able to procure it?; - as much as will fill a nutshell will be sufficient. ...'
