STAINER, Sir John (1840-1901). Organist & composer.
Autograph Mss of two songs, together with related or associated manuscripts. The songs are 'When all the World is Young, Lad' [watermark 1863], and 'Rest' (for contralto voice), no date With a letter to Stainer from Agnes Zimmerman (1869).
'Rest (a Sketch) / for a contralto voice ... In spring the green leaves shoot ...', in E minor (the last verse in the major), 2½ pages folio comprising four systems per page on three staves each.
'When all the world is young lad ...', in D major, 4 pages folio, 11 of four systems of three staves each (introduction on two staves).
Together with a collection of autograph and scribal manuscripts of music by Stainer, Reinagle, E H Moberly (1873-1874), Gertrude Hine and others, and a letter to Stainer from Agnes Zimmermann; 25 items in all, 1860-1874 where dated.
